Cursed Art of Jujutsu Kaisen

Artist Note:

Jujutsu Kaisen very quickly became a top-10 favorite of mine. I can't get over the creative power dynamics and personalities that each character exhibits. For JJK tattoos, Jujutsu Kaisen gives me a lot to work with because of how dynamic and intense everything already is! I've designed tattoos focusing on Gojo, Yuji, Yuta, and Sukuna along with cursed energy accents to add a whole bunch of movement and color. I find Yuta and Rika tattoos to be especially fun because of Rika's teeth! But all in all, it's the expressions you can do with these characters that really inspire me. JJK tattoos can go in all sorts of directions - you can do something cute and playful, or go wild with action and flow!

Domain Expansion: Custom Jujutsu Kaisen Tattoos

The Jujutsu Kaisen anime has charmed and entrapped otakus unlike any other recent anime release - from the stunning and ambitious animation to the highly energetic art style in the manga, JJK tattoos bring a whole other level of dynamic intensity to the skin. The characters alone are so inspiring and relatable they almost feel real outside of their fantastical world of curse techniques. It's no wonder so many commit to tattooing their favorite JJK characters - and I'm all for it!

The JJK world quickly became a top ten favorite of mine, and I just can't get enough of these characters. I love finding ways to capture their expressions and personalities alongside their god-tier powers. There is really no limit to the direction each composition can take, and no character I wouldn't enjoy tattooing. When it comes to a custom Gojo tattoo or a stoic-looking Geto tattoo, I'm going to be just as excited as you are!

Gojo Obsession: What Goes into Designing a Gojo Tattoo?

Never in my lifetime have I seen so many men and women go feral over a white-haired anime man - Gojo charmed his viewers with his cocky smile and almost arrogant confidence. His seemingly selfish behavior often later reveals itself to be more of an act of compassion, but maybe it's because we love him that we are willing to look the other way.

Whenever I approach a Gojo tattoo, I always focus the composition around his eyes. It's not a cop-out, it's essential considering not only his family background and abilities, but because fans expect to see those eyes as the main focal point. Contrasts are key in getting the glowing effect, and then to avoid washed-out white ink after the heal, I focus on prismatic shadows and highlights to keep the illusion of platinum white hair.

The Tragic Duo: Gojo and Geto Tattoo

I knew I couldn't have been the only one that was heartbroken by the fallout between Gojo and Geto - the way the events of Hidden Inventory arc irreversibly changed their morals and personalities was nothing short of sad. Not even Gojo's reverse technique could repair the damage. Unsurprisingly, this tattoo ended up being one of my most viral - online otakus adored the double-portrait composition!

Unfortunately, I caught another tattoo artist attempting to feed off its popularity by using AI to modify it and resell it. How do I know? The AI blended the fish into Gojo's hair in their rendition, and he totally missed it while pasting hello kitty elements all around them. Ah well. Needless to say, you don't have to worry about that from me! I always draw everyone's composition up from scratch so you get a truly one-of-a-kind and fully custom JJK tattoo of your own. And even if someone online tries to copy, steal, or replicate it, you're still the only person who can claim that original design as yours.

Dynamic Anime Tattoos: Gojo and Sukuna Face-off

What if you want to take full advantage of one side of an entire limb as part of a sleeve? This is one of the coolest ways to capture a battle scene outside of a backpiece. You can use the upper or inner thigh down to the outer or inner calf, or you can use the inner bicep and connect it to the inner forearm like we did here!

Having that intense face-off moment between two characters does more than feature a few of your favorites - it showcases a moment that moved or thrilled you enough to get it inked! Forearms can be a tricky and awkward space for a dynamic tattoo, but combine it with the inner bicep or the upper arm for one or two characters and you've unleashed the potential for a seriously powerful domain expansion!

Tattooing the Queen of Curses: Rika and Yuta Tattoos

Another pair I just can't get enough of! I've tattooed many Yuta and Rika pieces, and I never grow tired or bored of them. Composing a tattoo of them together does require space, however, because of Rika's mass and Yuta's detailed expressions. So in this case, when a forearm was the only space available, we took the whole thing!

Even with a limiting space like the forearm, we created a cohesive forearm sleeve that comes to life as it turns. Each side blends seamlessly into the other, creating the illusion of one tattoo. After the heal, we have a Yuta and Rika tattoo that demands attention from onlookers.

It doesn't end there! When a client of mine had an awkward space left on her inner thigh, we found a way to use the space for this inseparable pair. Though I don't typically like to make faces and details this small, with careful planning, we were able to do a beautiful illustrative piece that even features Rika's human form.

Filler Tattoos: Sukuna Tattoos for the Nooks and Crannies!

Got a weird space left after finishing other tattoos? There are a number of ways to fill those odd spots - you can cop-out and do smoke or cloud filler, maybe some symbols or a little chibi character. Or you can pull a boss move and cram Sukuna's sinister face in there, stuffing him like Geto did to Gojo with the prison realm! That'll teach him...or maybe not.

Jujutsu Kaisen Tattoo FAQ

Can you design a Jujutsu Kaisen tattoo sleeve or large-scale battle scene?

Absolutely, I can! Action and battle-focused tattoos are among my favorites to design!

The first step in the process is to reach out and brainstorm! Together, we will discuss your vision for your JJK sleeve and come up with the best layout to display your favorite characters. Sleeves are multi-session large projects that are completed over time. In some cases, people opt to do back-to-back sessions to knock out as much as possible. However, for the body to have the best healing experience, I always recommend spacing sessions out by 1-2 months at a time. These large projects can take between 6-8 sessions to complete.

Ultimately, I specialize in what is essentially large-scale storytelling. It's the illustrator in me! Whether you want a hero or a villain - I design the composition as a cohesive flow that follows the natural movement of your arm or leg (or even a backpiece!). I more often than not have a general full concept in my head for the entire piece and I design a section at a time as we go. However, for some projects, I'll design the whole sleeve before we begin.

How much does a custom JJK tattoo cost?

Because I design every tattoo from scratch and fully custom for you, the number of sessions we need will vary depending on a number of factors: placement and its proportions, your pain tolerance, the complexity of the design, and the style. I work in all-day and half-day flat rates, and because of my 8+ years of experience tattooing, I have a pretty solid idea of how much time a tattoo will take me. For a quote, please fill out the booking form with your idea, character choice, and placement - we'll discuss a game plan, and when you're ready, lock in!

Can I bring a screenshot, manga panel, or fan art as inspiration for my tattoo?

Not necessarily. But you are welcomed to send them my way to help me better understand your vision! However, please keep in mind I never directly copy references - I only use them to solidify my own understanding of what you may be seeking. The reference provides the mood or direction, then I sketch and render a completely unique vision for the piece! This ensures your JJK tattoo is that one-of-a-kind art you won't see on everybody else.

Does a full-color tattoo hold up over time?

You betcha! My job is to apply it efficiently, and your job is to take charge of the aftercare and the long-term skin care. This ensures it will last a lifetime. Consistent aftercare and long-term skin care help color tattoos look their best. Healing properly, avoiding unnecessary picking or friction, and protecting tattoos from frequent sun exposure can all help preserve clarity and vibrancy over long periods of time.

For my part to play - my process focuses on the foundations of fine art and tattooing, which means using strong contrasts against saturated color that is built for long-term clarity and vibrancy. You can check out my healed anime tattoos section to see how my colorwork ages and settles into the skin.

How can I travel to Orlando, Florida for my JJK tattoo?

I frequently work with clients who travel from across Florida, the US, and even from abroad to get custom anime tattoos. Since many of my projects are large-scale, we can discuss scheduling and timelines, and consider back-to-back sessions if you are traveling from afar so we can maximize your trip out as much as possible.

For travel logistics and advice, check out my Orlando Tattoo Travel Guide - I had a handful of my frequent traveler clients help me build it specifically for when they come out to see me at xsadfamx!

How far in advance should I book?

My books generally fill up for 6-10 months at a time. I announce booking periods for when I'm accepting inquiries to lock in for later in the same year or into the next year depending on timing. You can check my booking form page for details, and when you're ready, reach out so we can make art together!
