Artist Note:
Sure, the fresh tattoo can be super vibrant and sticker-like, but what about after its healed? How will the ink hold up? That's my ultimate goal - to make the healed tattoo look as close as possible to when it was fresh. Thankfully, as I continue to improve my tattooing techniques, I have amazing clients who've rocked the most important part of the process: the aftercare. Though healing varies from one person to another because of many factors like health, diet, medical conditions, and sun exposure - commitment to following the aftercare, doing proper long-term skincare, and avoiding sun exposure and damage will ultimately yield the best results! Over my many years of tattooing, one thing always holds true - tattoo aftercare is gospel. Check out my collection of healed anime tattoos! Many of these photos were taken by me outside in natural lighting, others were sent to me from my wonderful clients!

Over the years, some of the most common questions I get asked by my clients is, "How will the color hold?" or "Color fades more than black and gray, right?" - both are legit questions.
Skin is a living, changing organ - actually, it's the body's largest organ! Tattoo pigment is packed within the dermis, just beneath the epidermis. Over time, all tattoos can soften slightly as skin naturally ages and remodels. Fine details may blur a smidge, and color can gradually lose some saturation. This is a normal part of tattoo aging - not necessarily a sign that anything was done wrong.
That said, with thoughtful design, proper technique and application, good aftercare and healing practices, and consistent long-term skincare, tattoos can hold beautifully for many years.
One of a tattoo's biggest external stressors is sun exposure - so it's no surprise that tattoos that rarely get direct exposure to UV rays maintain the most vibrancy. People often underestimate how much incidental sun exposure their skin receives day to day. For example, drivers may notice that the arm closest to the side window gets more exposure during regular commutes. If that arm has a tattoo, consistent sun protection makes a real difference over the years.
It's important to remember that UV rays - specifically UVA - can penetrate through clouds, glass, and even lightweight clothing. A standard cotton t-shirt provides much less protection than people realize. This is why for clients with active outdoor lifestyles - like hikers, fishers, surfers, or landscapers - I always recommend investing in UV-protective (UPF 50+) clothing. It's the most consistent way to block the UVA rays, ensuring your ink stays as crisp as the day it finished healing.
Long-term tattoo aging is also individual. Skin tone, skin condition, genetics, healing response, placement of the body, daily work, friction, movement, and lifestyle can all influence how a tattoo settles and changes over time. Someone who works outdoors, for example, may have more existing sun exposure and will need to be especially mindful of protecting healed tattoos from further UV damage. Chronically sun-damaged or compromised skin can also be less predictable to tattoo and heal.
In my experience, clients who follow their aftercare instructions and continue caring for their skin long after the tattoo has healed tend to get the best long-term results. Their tattoos generally retain stronger contrast, clearer detail, and better vibrancy over the years. On the other hand, tattoos exposed to repeated sun damage without protection can fade significantly and may need a touch-up when appropriate.
A tattoo is a partnership in a way: I apply the tattoo with care and intention, using the best approach for the skin I'm working with; I provide clear aftercare and long-term instructions; and then the client protects and maintains their tattoos as it becomes a part of their life. And that's special!

You betcha! My job is to apply it efficiently, and your job is to take charge of the aftercare and the long-term skin care. This gives your tattoo the best chance of maintaining clarity and vibrancy for the long term. Consistent aftercare and long-term skin care help color tattoos look their best. Healing properly, avoiding unnecessary picking or friction, and protecting tattoos from frequent sun exposure can all help preserve clarity and vibrancy over long periods of time.
For my part to play - my process focuses on the foundations of fine art and tattooing, which means using strong contrasts against saturated color that is built for long-term clarity and vibrancy. You can check out my healed anime tattoos section to see how my colorwork ages and settles into the skin.
By always remembering that the sun is your tattoo's worst enemy and that moisturizing is a must for happy and healthy skin. Check out my tips for protecting your tattoos once they're healed on my aftercare page!

The first step in the process is to reach out and brainstorm! Together, we will discuss your vision for your tattoo and come up with the best layout to display your favorite characters. Depending on your idea, we may need more than one session. For example, sleeves and backpieces are multi-session large projects that are completed over time. In some cases, people opt to do back-to-back sessions to knock out as much as possible. However, for the body to have the best healing experience, I always recommend spacing sessions out by 1-2 months at a time. These large projects can take between 6-8 sessions to complete.
Ultimately, I specialize in what is essentially large-scale storytelling. It's the illustrator in me! I design the composition as a cohesive flow that follows the natural movement of your arm or leg (or even a backpiece!). I more often than not have a general full concept in my head for the entire piece and I design a section at a time as we go. However, for some projects, I'll design the whole sleeve before we begin.
Because I design every tattoo from scratch and fully custom for you, the number of sessions we need will vary depending on a number of factors: placement and its proportions, your pain tolerance, the complexity of the design, and the style. I work in all-day and half-day flat rates, and because of my 8+ years of experience tattooing, I have a pretty solid idea of how much time a tattoo will take me. For a quote, please fill out the booking form with your idea, character choice, and placement - we'll discuss a game plan, and when you're ready, lock in!
I frequently work with clients who travel from across Florida, the US, and even from abroad to get custom anime tattoos. Since many of my projects are large-scale, we can discuss scheduling and timelines, and consider back-to-back sessions if you are traveling from afar so we can maximize your trip out as much as possible.
For travel logistics and advice, check out my Orlando Tattoo Travel Guide - I had a handful of my frequent traveler clients help me build it specifically for when they come out to see me at xsadfamx!
My books generally fill up for 6-10 months at a time. I announce booking periods for when I'm accepting inquiries to lock in for later in the same year or into the next year depending on timing. You can check my booking form page for details, and when you're ready, reach out so we can make art together!
