What Your Anime Tattoo Says About You
From Strangers Who Just Don't Get It, and Otakus That Totally Do!
June 2025 Edition
So you've committed. You went and did the thing! You didn't just settle on a cute, discreet anime tattoo to represent your dedication. Oh no, you went bigger - full "etch this person into my skin with the colors of their soul" mode and got a large portrait. RESPECT.
Regardless of whether your dedication is represented in a single portrait, a sleeve, or a backpiece that pulls onlookers into a double-take, your anime tattoo choice speaks volumes! But what exactly is it saying, and how do the uninitiated interpret it?
Well, after a survey of random imaginary people, the results are downright silly.
"It's not about whether I can or not...I'm gonna do it because I want to." - Monkey D. Luffy, Onepiece

Strangers: "This person has seen things - like...terrible things, and I get the sense that they'll spend a lifetime hunting me down if I cross them. Or maybe they're just overcompensating for something.
Otakus: "That is my new friend - trauma-bonding is the way."
You Have A Sung Jinwoo Tattoo
Your reason: "Jinwoo is just a badass - going from determined dweeb to unmatched hero, and does everything for the sake of his loved ones."
Strangers: "This person has been training - either for the world's most intense staring contest or for who can grow the longest chin."
Otakus: "That smize would sear a steak...is that what I'm smelling? Seasoned hunk?"
You Have A Gojo Satoru Tattoo
Your reason: "Gojo is unmatched in power and charisma - he's also more complex than meets the eye, and I admire his dedication to his students."
Strangers: "Did they just draw a penis on that napkin?"
Otaku: "I see you too thirst for limitless swag."
You Have A Vegeta Tattoo
Your reason: "Vegeta has the best character development in Dragon Ball, and his pride is something I personally understand."
Strangers: "This person has a vendetta against someone - I mean look at how aggressively they are lifting those weights! Why are they screaming?"
Otaku: "My new rival and gym accountabili-buddy"
You Have A Makima Tattoo
Your reason: "She is a strategist and leader - willing to do what it takes to reach her goals. I find her mesmerizing."
Strangers: "There is something sinister about this person, but I can't quite put my finger on it...but I want to be their friend still. I know - I'll bring them a cake!"
Otaku: "You are a twisted individual..."
You Have A Jotaro Tattoo
Your reason: "Jotaro is unwavering, taking charge against anyone who dares threaten his friends and loved ones."
Strangers: "That person is quite fashionable! And they have the poise of a professional model. Wait...that beastly being of pure muscle is a middle schooler!?"
Otaku: "They've obviously got no time for nonsense - only elaborate poses."

Ren Behan INK
My favorite thing about tattooing anime is that I get to sit and nerd out with my clients while crafting a sick tattoo of their favorite characters. We both share the excitement for the ink they'll be wearing for the rest of their lives, and I take pride and honor in the trust they've given me.
